1977. Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I). In English. The 4 Geneva Conventions and their 2 additional Protocols are the fundamental laws, which must be applied in a war, even if it is a (non-) international or civil one.
